Games Like Triple Match 3D: the Best Triple-Tile Match Games

If you like Triple Match 3D and want the next one, start with Match Factory! from Peak Games: the same heap of 3D objects, the same triples, the same clock. Goods Sort™ (Shinrays) moves the matching onto supermarket shelves. Triple Tile (Tripledot Studios) and Zen Match (Moon Active) press the heap flat into layered tiles and lower the pressure, and Tile Busters (Spyke Games) adds blockers and leagues for people who want something to beat. How we chose

• Triples, not pairs. You clear things three of a kind at a time. That rules out games that look like siblings but match pairs, and the “tile connect” games where you join two tiles along a path.
• A developer you can check. This genre is crowded with near-identical names. Every pick names the developer printed on its own listing, and we left out anything where we could not tell you which app you would actually get.
• Free to start. All five competitor picks are free to download with in-app purchases. The price ranges are the ones on their US App Store listings.
• A different reason to exist. Each pick changes one thing: the clock, the container, the shape of the pile or what sits around the levels.
• One real limitation each. Ours included.

Triple Match 3D is a Boombox Games heap-and-timer game

It is worth pinning down who makes it, because half the genre shares the name. The Triple Match 3D most people mean is published by Boombox Games LTD, which is the developer on both its App Store and Google Play listings and on Boombox’s own site. Each level tips a heap of everyday 3D objects onto the screen: fruit, toys, travel gear, holiday trinkets. You tap three identical items to clear them as a triple and work towards a goal set at the start of the level, against a clock. The listing does not soften it: “Each level has a timer, so you must move fast.”

Around that sit boosters, a Shuffle, events and collection albums. It plays offline, carries ads according to Google Play, and its in-app purchases run from $1.99 to $27.99 on the US App Store, where it is rated 4+. Its two listings disagree about how many levels there are, so we are not picking a number for them.

So what you liked is probably one of three things: the rummage (finding the third lemon under a teddy bear), the clock, or the tidy feeling of an empty board. Which one it was changes the recommendation.

The picks

Match Factory!, the closest swap, from the Toon Blast team

Peak Games. Free on the App Store and Google Play, in-app purchases $1.99–$19.99, rated 4+ on the App Store. Its listing describes almost exactly the game you just put down: a board of 3D items to connect, sort and clear, “with each level equipped with a timer”. Peak, the studio behind Toon Blast and Toy Blast, says it plays offline (purchases need a connection) and that new items arrive every two weeks, so the heap keeps changing. If you want more of the same rummage, this is the one to install first.

The limitation (opinion): it keeps the clock. If the timer was the part of Triple Match 3D you put up with rather than enjoyed, Match Factory! will not fix that, and Triple Tile or Travel Tiles will.

Goods Sort™, the same triples on supermarket shelves

Shinrays. Free on both stores, in-app purchases $0.39–$12.99, rated 4+. On the App Store it is called Goods Sort™ – Triple Master 3D and on Google Play Goods Sort™ – Sorting Games; both listings name Shinrays as the developer. The heap is replaced by a shop: 3D snacks, drinks and fruit sit on shelves, and you clear them three identical items at a time. It is the same itch as Triple Match 3D with a tidier container, rows of stock instead of a landslide.

The limitation: two, really. The iOS listing promises “strict time limits” on every level, so this is not the relaxed pick. And the name is a hazard: Google Play is stocked with Goods Sorting, Goods Triple and Goods 3D Sorting apps from other developers. Check for Shinrays on the listing before you install.

Triple Tile, flat tiles and thousands of levels

Tripledot Studios. Free on both stores, in-app purchases $1.99–$49.99, rated 13+. Triple Tile flattens the heap into layered tiles, stacked the way mahjong solitaire stacks them: find three identical tiles, clear them, empty the board. Its listing never mentions a timer and sells calm instead. It claims thousands of levels with new puzzles every week, lays your progress out on a map of destinations and says plainly that it plays without an internet connection. On Apple hardware it also runs on M1-or-later Macs and on Vision Pro, which is more than anything else here can say.

The limitation: the top of its in-app purchase range is $49.99, the highest on this list by some distance. Flat tiles also lose the physical rummage through a pile, which for some Triple Match 3D players is the whole point.

Zen Match, the calm one with a room to decorate

Moon Active. Free on both stores, in-app purchases $1.99–$16.99. Zen Match calls itself a tile-matching mahjong puzzle: match three tiles, clear the board, then spend your rewards decorating and colouring a Zen room between levels, with a daily puzzle that looks after a house plant. The listing promises thousands of puzzles that “start with low difficulty and become challenging fast”, which is at least fair warning.

The limitation: the App Store rates it 16+, the highest rating on this list, and the Google Play listing says its in-game purchases include randomised items. If you are choosing a game for a child, choose a different one. Neither listing mentions offline play.

Tile Busters, for people who want an opponent

Spyke Games. Free on both stores, in-app purchases $1.99–$9.99, rated 4+. The core is tap-three-to-clear tiles, with blockers bolted on: Ice, Chain, Glue and Tile Maker tiles that change what you can pick and when. Around it sit Tournaments, Leagues, a Car Race, Time Challenges against your own best and towns to build. If the part of Triple Match 3D you liked most was the events, this is the most competitive pick here.

The limitation (opinion): the competition is the product. If you want to clear a board in peace, the leagues and races will keep asking for your attention. Its listing does not mention offline play either.

Travel Tiles, free in your browser with no timer

Ours, and free: Travel Tiles is a triple-match tile game that runs in any browser with no download and no sign-up. The board is a suitcase built from 96 souvenir tiles in four layers. There are sixteen souvenirs and six copies of each, so every face makes exactly two triples. Tap a free tile and it drops into a six-slot tray, and three of a kind in the tray clear themselves. Fill all six slots without a triple and the trip is over.

There is no timer and no move limit. A stopwatch counts up in the corner, but nothing happens when it gets high. You get Undo (back as far as your last cleared triple), Hint and Shuffle, and every new deal can be cleared if you pick in the right order. We tuned it to be losable on purpose: careless tapping jams the tray in most games, and working out which of a souvenir’s two triples to chase first is the actual puzzle.

The limitation: it is one board. The suitcase is dealt differently every time, but there are no levels to climb, no 3D heap, no events and nothing to unlock. Triple Tile and Match Factory! beat it on variety by a very long way. What it is good for is ten untimed minutes, right now, for free.

Match Heist, the tray game made of 3D cars

Also ours. Match Heist belongs to the same family as Triple Match 3D: you tap free cars off a crowded 3D board into a seven-slot tray and clear them three of a colour at a time, and if the tray fills with mismatches the run is over. It is free on iOS and Android, with in-app purchases of $1.99–$17.99 on the App Store and a 9+ rating. The boards come wrapped in a heist: Vera Voss plans the jobs, Ethan Rowe drives, and Sir Wagsworth, a corgi who regards himself as senior management, supervises by drone.

It is here for the Triple Match 3D player who liked picking through a 3D pile but found a heap of fruit and toothbrushes a little anonymous. The limitation: the pile is always cars. If the variety of objects is the point, Match Factory! wins easily. There is no browser version of Match Heist itself either; Car Match is the nearest free thing on this site.

Side by side

The names are a trap, so read the developer line

Search the App Store for “Triple Match 3D” and you get Match Triple 3D, Tile Match 3D, Triple Match 3D – Joy Game and plenty more from unrelated developers, many with the same heap of fruit on the icon. Match 3D from Lion Studios Plus looks like a sibling and plays like a cousin, because it matches pairs rather than triples. “Tile Master” is at least three different apps from three different companies. Goods Sort has enough lookalikes that we named its developer twice above.

We left Tile Master and the Tile Connect-style games off the list for that reason, and because connect games are a different puzzle anyway. The defence is dull and it works: read the developer name on the listing before you trust the icon. Every developer named in this post is the one printed on the game’s own listing.

Picking one

• You want more Triple Match 3D, essentially: Match Factory! from Peak Games.
• You like the rummage but want a tidier container: Goods Sort™ from Shinrays, once you have checked the developer name.
• You want no clock and a very long queue of levels: Triple Tile from Tripledot Studios.
• You want something gentle to do between boards: Zen Match, if the 16+ rating and randomised purchases do not bother you.
• You want to beat other people: Tile Busters and its leagues.
• You want to play in ten seconds, untimed, for nothing: Travel Tiles in your browser.
• You like the 3D pile and would rather it were cars: Match Heist.

Underneath all seven is one rule: every tile you pick up is a promise to find two more. The real choice is whether you want a clock enforcing that promise, and once you know, the list sorts itself. Travel Tiles is the version with no clock, free in your browser if you want to test the theory now.
