How to play Loot Drop
Loot Drop is a rope-cutting physics puzzle. The Big Rock, a diamond with a face and opinions, hangs from one or more ropes above the street. Parked below is the getaway van, with Sir Wagsworth standing in the roof hatch, paws out. Your job is to get the diamond into those paws.
Swipe across a rope to cut it. The diamond swings on whatever is still holding it, so the order and the moment you cut decide where it goes. A rope cut at the bottom of a swing drops it straight down. Cut at the top of a swing, it flies.
Later levels add things to tap. Crates and planks break and stop being in the way. Balloons lift the diamond until you pop them. Bellows give it a puff of air in the direction they point, and trampolines bounce it back up. Pegs with a dotted circle grab the diamond with a fresh rope when it passes close enough.
The job fails if the diamond lands on the road, drifts off the screen or touches a red laser. Some lasers blink on and off, so timing counts. A failed drop costs nothing: press Try again and the level resets in a second.
Each level has three coins, and each coin the diamond touches on the way down is a star. Any finish unlocks the next level, so you can come back for missing coins later.
Tips for three stars
- Watch one full swing before you cut. The diamond keeps the speed it had at the moment of the cut, so the arc it follows afterwards is set by where it was in the swing.
- Use the coins as a map. They sit on the path the diamond takes when a level is played well. If a coin looks out of reach, the level usually has a second way to get there.
- Balloons buy time. While a balloon is tied on, the diamond drifts slowly, which gives you room to line up a bellows puff or wait for a laser to switch off.
- Bellows are strongest up close. A puff weakens with distance and spreads into a cone, so wait until the diamond is in front of the nozzle.
- Restart freely. There is no timer and no lives. Press R on a keyboard or the restart button to reset a level instantly.
Loot Drop FAQ
Is Loot Drop free to play?
Yes. Loot Drop is free in any modern browser with no download, no install and no signup.
How do I play Loot Drop?
Swipe across a rope to cut it and tap crates, planks, balloons and bellows to use them. The goal is to land the diamond in Sir Wagsworth's paws on the roof of the getaway van. If it hits the road, touches a laser or leaves the screen, the level restarts.
How do stars work?
Each level has three coins. Every coin the diamond touches before it reaches the van is one star, so three coins means three stars. Reaching the van with no coins still clears the level and unlocks the next one.
Is every level possible with three stars?
Yes. Every level ships with a recorded solution that collects all three coins, and a script replays each one through the same physics the game runs before the level goes live.
Does Loot Drop work on phones?
Yes. It is built for one-handed play on a phone: swipe with a thumb to cut, tap to pop. It also plays with a mouse on a desktop, and with a keyboard, where the number keys use the labelled ropes and objects and R restarts.
Does my progress save?
Yes. Cleared levels and your best stars are stored in your browser on this device. Clearing your browser data resets them.
Is Loot Drop like Cut the Rope?
It is in the same family of rope-cutting physics puzzles: cut ropes in the right order so a swinging object lands where it should. The difference is the job. Here the object is a stolen diamond, the target is a getaway van, and lasers end the attempt on contact.
Who made Loot Drop?
Loot Drop is made by Brightpoint Studios, the studio behind Match Heist, our 3D car match puzzle for iOS and Android, and the other free games on matchheist.com.
